More than 30 scholars at RePublic High School recently took center stage as they hosted a dynamic Health & Wellness Fair—a student-led event that brought learning to life while strengthening community connections. Held just outside the senior hallway, the fair transformed a familiar school space into an interactive hub of education and empowerment.

Over 100 attendees—students, staff, and community members—visited the fair to learn from scholars who shared research and insights tied to their post-graduation pathways. Topics spanned a wide range of wellness priorities, including substance abuse awareness, nutrition, sexual education, and an array of mental health topics like depression, anxiety, OCD, and dissociative disorders.
This wasn’t just a showcase—it was a conversation. Scholars engaged visitors with interactive components like videos, surveys, quizzes, custom pins, and more. They also invited community partners and experts to deepen the impact of their work. Among the special guests were representatives from Hands On Nashville, the HOPE Clinic for Women, as well as nutritionists and mental health professionals, who all lent their expertise to help reinforce the real-world relevance of the topics presented.

These scholars modeled RePublic’s Portrait of a Graduate in action:
- Effective communication, as they confidently shared their findings with both peers and adults
- Independent thinking through the unique focus of each research topic
- Community-minded leadership by partnering with local organizations and specialists
- Compassionate collaboration through their collective effort to uplift and educate their community
They also demonstrated our core values of Getting Better Together—working in partnership with one another and their communities—and Striving for Excellence, by tying their learning directly to their future ambitions.
This event was a vivid example of what’s possible when we combine two of our top priorities: high-quality instruction and developing change agents. Our scholars didn’t just present what they learned—they used their voices and research to spark change.
One of the most powerful parts of the fair? Hearing scholars reflect on how they’ve applied their learning to real moments in their lives—particularly around mental health. Each presentation included a personal connection, showing just how meaningful and transformative this work has been.
