Building Community Through Belonging and Excellence at Nashville Prep
At RePublic Schools, we believe in the power of community and the importance of inviting others to collaborate in our daily work to create spaces of love, achievement, and belonging. This spirit was evident during a recent Community Coffee at Nashville Prep, hosted in partnership with the Nashville Charter Collaborative. We also previewed our five-year priorities: sacred scholar experiences, empowering scholars as change agents, high-quality instruction, and strong performance management.
The event brought together over 20 guests, including longtime partners and new collaborators, to highlight Nashville Prep’s unique qualities under Principal Gates’ leadership. It emphasized our dedication to academic excellence and scholar belonging through the “Three Es” framework: Experiences, Exposure, and Expansion.
Guests witnessed a powerful community circle where scholars analyzed a song’s main idea and reflected on their academic growth. This discussion showcased student voice and literacy skills while emphasizing the connections built in Nashville Prep’s classrooms. A highlight of the event was Amy’s inspiring speech. As an alumnus of NP and a current intern, she shared how her experiences at the school and the relationships she built shaped her journey. Her remarks also reflected Principal Gates’ leadership style, emphasizing high expectations, support, and genuine care for students.
We were honored to partner with organizations like Counterpunch, Preston Taylor Ministries, and others, along with representatives from Pinnacle Bank, Tennessee SCORE, and The City Fund. The Community Coffee celebrated our achievements and advanced our long-term vision. Events like this are crucial for strengthening relationships, sharing impactful stories, and inviting others to join our mission.
