We’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Liberty Collegiate Academy (LCA) scholars at the International Academic Competitions hosted at RePublic High School this past month! Competing against students from across the region, six LCA scholars displayed exceptional academic skills and earned top spots in the prestigious Academic Bee.
Top Performers: Celebrating Academic Excellence
Our scholars’ outstanding performance included:
- Billy Jacobs (5th Grade): 1st Place in Geography & Science – 5th Grade Champion
- Caiden Holmes (5th Grade): 2nd Place in Geography
- Jorge Cuatianquis Hernandez (5th Grade): 3rd Place in Geography
- Elias Sami-Behement (8th Grade): 3rd Place in Geography
- Niall Pinho (8th Grade): 8th Place in Geography, 11th Place in History, and 7th Place in Science
- Nelson Cortez (8th Grade): 10th Place in Geography
Their dedication and preparation earned them well-deserved recognition.
Pathway to Nationals and Internationals
Because of their success, all six scholars qualified for the Nationals in Florida. Even more exciting is that they can compete at the Internationals in Italy. This achievement underscores their ability to excel on more prominent stages and inspires all of us at LCA.
What Are the International Academic Competitions?
The International Academic Competitions (IAC) is a global organization that allows students from grades K-12 to compete in tournaments focused on history, geography, science, and other academic areas.
IAC believes academic competitions help students grow by encouraging them to study harder and think critically. Additionally, they foster connections with peers worldwide, assisting participants to develop their intellectual, social, and moral capacities.
Exciting Opportunities Await
IAC events open doors to prestigious world championships. For example, students can qualify for the International History Olympiad, the International Geography Championships, or the International Environmental Science Olympiad. Upcoming events include tournaments in Puerto Rico (2024), Italy (2025), and beyond.
