Priyal Taylor, The Handler

The day after the most recent presidential election, a student came up to me and asked, “what do I need to do to be the next female president?” That made my heart so happy. The hopefulness that I see in our students makes this work so worthwhile.  I wish there wasn’t a need to reimagine public education in the South. It should just be that every school provides a great education to every single student. But we know that’s not the case. So I’m grateful for the opportunity to do this work in this corner of the world with this group of people. When it’s all said and done and our students have grown and left us, I hope they remember all the great lessons that they’ve learned here - and that they can be themselves AND  be successful.
