Dear Liberty Collegiate Academy Parents,
We hope this letter finds you and your family enjoying a wonderful summer break filled with relaxation and quality time together with your families. As we approach the start of the new school year, we wanted to reach out and share some important updates and information with you as it pertains to Liberty Collegiate Academy
First and foremost, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for your continued support and trust in RePublic Schools. We value the partnership we have built with you and are committed to providing the best possible education for your scholar. This letter aims to inform you about recent developments and outline the next steps as we work together to ensure a successful school year.
As you may know, Liberty Collegiate Academy experienced a fire over the summer that caused significant damage to a portion of our school. While this incident was indeed a setback for our school, we found that it presented an opportunity for us to address long-overdue renovations that will ensure the safety and comfort of our scholars. We have been working closely with Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS), who have determined that several improvements are necessary before students and staff can safely occupy the building.
Currently, we are in the midst of these renovations at Liberty Collegiate Academy, which will greatly enhance our school environment. The planned enhancements include improved lighting throughout the entire school, updated electrical systems, new floor restoration in classrooms and open spaces, new gym flooring, and the installation of new air conditioning units to replace the old boiler units. We are collaborating closely with MNPS to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to create a safe and conducive learning environment for our students and staff.
With that being said, let’s address what lies ahead for the upcoming school year:
- Start of School: The school year will commence on its scheduled date of August 7th, 2023. However, until the renovations at Liberty Collegiate Academy are completed, we will be temporarily relocating to the middle school wing of RePublic High School, located at 3307 Brick Church Pike, Nashville, TN (approx 6-7 minutes away from LCA). Please rest assured that the middle school wing at RePublic High School is entirely separate from the high school section. There will be separate entrances, learning spaces, lunch areas, and even gym spaces for our middle school scholars. At no point will students from Liberty Collegiate Academy interact with or have access to RePublic High School students or their spaces.
- Schedule and Transportation: Doors will open at 8:00 AM, and dismissal will be at 3:30 PM, following the regular schedule. Bus stops will remain the same as last school year. Additionally, as a courtesy to our scholars who are car riders, we will also provide a dedicated bus running from Liberty Collegiate Academy to RePublic High School during the transition period.
- Programming and Learning: We want to assure you that all programming and learning at Liberty Collegiate Academy will continue as planned. There will be no compromise in the quality of education or academic progress. In fact, we are excited to introduce new elective courses at Liberty Collegiate Academy. - Renovation Timeline: Our current projections indicate that the renovations will be completed by the first week of September. As the work progresses, we will continue to provide regular updates to ensure that all families are well-informed and on the same page regarding the renovations.
We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation during this transitional period. We recognize that change can be challenging, but we are confident that with your support and partnership, we will ensure a smooth start to the school year for our scholars and families. We are here for you every step of the way.
To further address any concerns or questions you may have, we invite you to attend our Back-to-School Night on July 26th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The event will take place at RePublic High School, where you will have the opportunity to explore the entire middle school wing firsthand, purchase uniforms, and have direct conversations with our staff. We encourage all parents to attend and participate in this important event.
